Welcome to Talkitoff (“we,” “our,” “us”). By accessing or using our website talkitoff.org and related services (the “Platform”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use our Platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be 18 years or older to use Talkitoff.
If you are under 18, you may only use the Platform with the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
2. Nature of Service
Talkitoff provides a safe, anonymous platform for emotional support and mental wellness conversations.
Talkitoff is not a substitute for professional therapy, medical advice, psychiatric treatment, or emergency services.
If you are in crisis or think you may harm yourself or others, please call local emergency numbers or seek immediate professional help.
3. User Responsibilities
By using Talkitoff, you agree that you will not:
Harass, abuse, threaten, or harm other users or volunteers.
Misuse the chat system (spam, offensive content, impersonation).
Attempt to hack, damage, or disrupt the Platform.
Share or post illegal, defamatory, or inappropriate content.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
4. Volunteer and Support Roles
Volunteers are not licensed therapists or medical professionals, unless clearly stated.
Conversations are for peer support only.
Volunteers may end a chat session if boundaries are crossed or misuse occurs.
5. Intellectual Property
All content, branding, designs, and materials on Talkitoff are the exclusive property of Talkitoff unless otherwise stated.
Any materials created by volunteers for Talkitoff (including designs, written content, training materials, or digital assets) remain the exclusive property of Talkitoff.
Volunteers and contributors may use their work with Talkitoff for personal reference purposes (e.g., portfolios, resumes).
6. Privacy & Data
Your privacy is important to us. Please see our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details on how we handle your data.
Confidential chat sessions are never shared with third parties.
7. Limitation of Liability
Talkitoff provides its services “as is” and “as available.”
We make no guarantees that the Platform will always be secure, error-free, or uninterrupted.
Talkitoff, its team, volunteers, and affiliates are not liable for any damages, losses, or claims arising from use of the Platform, including reliance on support provided.
You agree that your use of Talkitoff is at your own discretion and risk.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform at any time if you breach these Terms or misuse the services.
Users may stop using the Platform at any time.
9. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Nigeria.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Any changes will be effective upon posting to this page with a new effective date. Continued use of the Platform means you accept the revised Terms.
